Vasyl` Stus Donetsk National University

Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University is an open academic community that is a leading educational, scientific and innovation center in Ukraine. The date of foundation of the Vasyl` Stus DonNU is July 15, 1937. In the structure of the Institute there were only two faculties: the historical and philological. May 28, 1965 is the beginning of an important stage in the history of the Vasyl` Stus DonNU, because it was on this day the foundation of Donetsk State University on the base of the Kharkiv State University.
Vasyl’ Stus DonNU was the first who signed the Great Charter of Universities and who joined the Bologna Process in 2004.
Now Vasyl` Stus DonNU comprises 9 faculties: Faculty of Mathematics and  IT, Faculty of Physics and Technology, Educational-Scientific Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Faculty of History, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, as well as:

• Department of Pedagogics and Education Management;
• Department of Philosophy;
• Learning and Research Centre for International Education;
• Three branches (in Kostiantynivka, Mariupol and Khmelnitsky)
• Business-Innovative Centre “DonNU-Podillya”)

Vasyl` Stus DonNU maintains relations with more than 70 universities in the world. It is a member of the European University Association, participant in numerous European research and educational programmes such as TEMPUS, Erasmus+, projects of the International Renaissance Foundation. Vasyl` Stus Donetsk National University is the only higher education institution in Ukraine that has become a member of the GUIDE Association (Global Universities In Distance Education) created with an aim to promote innovation technology in the field of education.
In 2014 DonNU was in the thick of the events that unfolded at the Donbas region in connection with Russian military aggression. On September 16, 2014, the administrative premises of the University were captured by armed groups. On September 30, 2014, the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 1084 “On the organization of the educational process of the Donetsk National University of Ukraine in Vinnytsia” was signed. From that time Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University provides its activities in Vinnytsia. In 2015 Donetsk National University received the Atlantic Council Award - Freedom Awards for advancing freedom in the world.
Vasyl` Stus DonNU today is not only the one classical university in the Vinnytsia region, it is a powerful educational center of the Central Ukrainian region, a reliable partner for scientific and educational institutions, authorities, community and business, a comfortable environment for development, life, study, work.
