The University has almost 30,000 intramural and extramural students at the BA, MA, postgraduate and Ph.D. level students following 70 undergraduate and postgraduate programs subdivided into over 240 specializations. All courses are recognized by the ECTS, which facilitates international student exchange. The University of Silesia also offers numerous Doctoral School’s programmes in the fields of: humanities, theology and art; exact and natural sciences as well as engineering and technical sciences; social sciences which allow students to deepen their knowledge of various disciplines and provide them with opportunities to conduct interesting and innovative research projects. The University provides also International Environmental Doctoral School (IEDS) associated with the Centre for Polar Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
