University of Peradeniya

There arearound 12,500 full time undergraduates at a given point in time while over20,000 undergraduates are registered as external students through the Centrefor Distance and Continuing Education (CDCE) of the University of Peradeniya. 

Currently theUniversity provides on-campus accommodation to about 75% of internalundergraduates within the 21 halls of residence available. The halls are wellequipped with canteens, study areas etc. Each Hall has its own ‘Hall Society’with elected office bearers. The residential students have opportunities forrecreation and social life culminating each year with a “Hall Social”.

Universityof  Peradeniya is rich in diversity.Students from all parts of the Country with numerous social, cultural andreligious backgrounds work with one another with a sense of brotherhood.

Thecentrally-located WUS (World University Service) Centre caters to most needs ofstudents. Whether you wish to buy stationary, get a haircut or a garmenttailored, the WUS Centre is able to handle your need. This Centre houses asub-post office, a cooperative store and a bookshop as well. The Universitybookshop carries textbooks, university publications and a variety of souvenirs.The WUS Centre provides its services at reasonable prices approved by theuniversity authorities.
