With one campus just steps from the Mediterranean Sea and the other in the middle of a beautiful mountain landscape, Barcelona GSE students and researchers have two unique environments for their academic activities.

Barcelona GSE study programs and research centers are located on two main campuses:

The Barcelona GSE's Ciutadella Campus at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in central Barcelona is within walking distance of both the beach and the city's financial, cultural, and governmental centers.

The Barcelona GSE's Bellaterra Campus at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is a self-contained location that offers students all of the services they need in their day-to-day lives. It is an easy half-hour train ride from the city center.

Our students are talented and motivated, who we connect with top-ranking researchers, experienced teaching faculty, international alumni and a strong recruiter network.

The objective of our rigorous nine-month Master’s programs is to prepare graduates for professional and academic careers that require intense analytical thinking and a flexible mindset.


Class of 2019 at a glance

The Class of 2019 is made up of 225 students, from 54 countries, with an average age of 25 years. Most students have undergraduate degrees in Economics or Finance. Others come from Engineering, Mathematics, or other backgrounds.

Students from around the world

85% of students in the Class of 2019 are from outside of Spain, and 40% of students came from outside Europe. These students bring an enriching mixture of professional backgrounds, cultural perspectives, and personal experiences to the classroom.

Work experience before the master program

In the Class of 2019 we have a 80% of students who come straight from their undergraduate degree to study a master. The remaining students have professional experience at consulting firms, international organizations, and banks as well as research institutions and government agencies.

•             What is the status of planned campus admission open days/tours? If these events are cancelled, are they being replaced in any way (i.e. by online alternatives)?

open days/tours are replaced by online webinars, one-to-one meetings and other online meeting options.

•             How can applicants contact the university about their application?

we are still open and operating at full speed taking care of applicants and solving all doubts.

•             How is the university handling applicants whose exams have been cancelled?

we take cases one by one to determine applicability of admission.

•             What advice is the university offering to applicants unable to take an English-language test due to centers being closed?

we allow applicants for some test online and also personal interviews to check English level.

•             How is the university supporting applicants whose visa applications have been delayed?

we help them with embassies, and tell them to hold visa applications until late May

•             Is the university still accepting applications? Are there any restrictions being placed on international applicants?

we are still accepting applications and are open until June 25. No restrictions to any applicant.

•             How are applications for university accommodation being handled?

we help with housing one by one. 

•             Is the university making any changes to entry requirements (i.e. test results, required documents)?

requirements are the same we just offer some options to defer some documents.

At the Barcelona GSE we look for excellence and talent. Key elements of a strong application are a high GPA, a sound statement of purpose and standout reference letters. Strong knowledge in Economics and good quantitative skills are also recommended.
