Long renowned for its excellent track record in teaching and learning, UCSI University is quickly making a name for itself in research and innovation. The University has been consistently moving up its rankings and has distinguished itself as a higher learning institution with a track record of providing educational excellence since its establishment.
UCSI University received a prestigious award for "QS Recognition for Improvement" from QS World University Rankings 2023, establishing it as the first and only in the world to be bestowed with such an honour and for showcasing the most improved university in rankings, on average, climbing 63 spots to be ranked 284th, and placing it among the world’s top 300 universities.
UCSI University continues to be ranked among the top 0.9% of the world’s universities and is in the 6th position among all Malaysian universities. The university is now ranked highest within the private university sector in the country.
UCSI University moved 28 spots to be ranked 77 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2022. Since the year 2018’s exercise, the university has leapt 135 spots, placing it among Asia’s top 80 varsities.
In addition, all UCSI University’s programmes have received a 100% employability score from the Malaysian Higher Education Ministry’s Graduate Employability 2021 survey, making UCSI University graduates highly employable.
Committed to the pursuit of knowledge, UCSI students are annually selected by the world’s best universities like Harvard, Imperial College London, the University of Chicago, and Tsinghua, among others, to advance high-impact research. Recently, UCSI invested over RM40 million on its facilities to give students a better experience of learning. The investment, among others, include a new set of Artificial Intelligence-powered engineering labs, the media and broadcasting centre (MBC), which is of industry standards, and an upgraded information and communication technology (ICT) system.
The University has almost completed building 15 engineering labs at its sprawling 28,000sqft learning space and they would be equipped with a building management system (BMS) and face recognition, among others, making the facility one of the first of its kind in the country.
The state-of-the-art facilities offer building information modelling (BIM), augmented reality and virtual reality technologies.
Meanwhile, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Libreral Arts’ (FOSSLA) MBC was completed in 2019 as a broadcasting centre for communication students to display their creativity in becoming a TV broadcaster or a journalist. MBC comprises a radio studio, TV studio, voice recording room, photography studio, as well as changing room and make-up room – standards equivalent to a real newsroom studio.
The centre uses the latest high tech equipment such as green screen, 4K camera, professional software, acoustic room and photography lab among others.
As for the UCSI Clinical Psychology Lab, it comprises of five different rooms – the assessment studio, observation room, discussion room, psychotherapy studio and group therapy studio.
For the assessment studio, there are 11 types of different psychology tools used to cater to different clients including IQ and personality tests while the observation room consists of two different rooms equipped with cameras and a two-way mirror.
With the Covid-19 pandemic changing the living landscape and demanding for a quicker transition to embracing digital technologies in the learning and teaching spaces, UCSI was among the first to offer a seamless digital learning space even before the global pandemic.
The University invested heavily to prepare various information and communication technology (ICT) tools and equipment in its classrooms. UCSI has over three decades of record in providing a quality higher education that adhered to, and sometimes, supersedes the requirements of the regulatory quality agency and other professional bodies.
Students’ activities and recreation provides and enhances the students’ educational experiences at UCSI with diverse opportunities for practical experience through co-curricular activities.
These activities provide valuable hands-on experience for leadership and character development through social, cultural, intellectual, recreational, community services and campus governance programmes.
Among the services offered through this include overseeing and providing guidance for extracurricular learning experience courses that promotes and encourages students to participate in activities beyond the classroom walls.
Youth Beyond Boundaries (YBB) is another initiative led by students for students in driving game-changing ideas into consequential outcomes. The purpose of YBB is to empower UCSI’s scholars with holistic leadership development. To date, YBB has provided students the edge in garnering leadership experience through various involvement under youth and development, environment, community, and entrepreneurship.
The University’s Student Ambassador Programme is another platform that enables students to connect and share their UCSI experience with prospective students; learn invaluable new skills; create their own online branding; and represent the University on public platforms.
UCSI offers more than just certificates and qualifications. Dedicated to grooming students to prepare them for the world, the University is committed to raising scholars, explorers and unique individuals who aspire to discover and actualise their talents.
Briefly, Malaysian students would need to complete an online registration form with the relevant academic qualification certificates and other documents. For postgraduate programmes, applicants would need to submit their resumé, and a personal statement of not more than three pages consisting of their goals, objectives and how the programme they are applying for will help them meet these targets.
As for international students, additional steps are required for the application process. This includes, submitting a copy of passport, health declaration form, declaration letter from the home country, no objection certificate issued by the Sudan Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for Sudanese, and eligibility letter by the Iran Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for Iranians.
