Samarkand state university is a modern university with its historical roots hidden in the 14-th Century. This is a modern university with century old traditions. It combines many centuries hammered out traditions with a modern educational, scientific and cultural innovations in modern life.

Samarkand state university is a modern university with its historical roots hidden in the 14-th Century. This is a modern university with century old traditions. It combines many centuries hammered out traditions with a modern educational, scientific and cultural innovations in modern life.
The university is well known by its specializations in the field of humanities, art and natural sciences.
University has many programs in Uzbek, Russian, Tajik and English languages to get degree and non-degree diplomas. The university also offers full-time, evening, correspondence and distance learning courses for both local and international applicants. Additionally, the university staff developed with their partners several educational programs in the system of joint or double diploma courses in the scheme of 2+2, where two initial years is organized in SamSU and two final years will be organized in the host universities. There are many other activities such as Internships and Practical activities abroad, in the framework of students and staff exchange programs. All invited staff and students are provided by free of charge accommodation in a comfortable guesthouse. Interesting cultural and social programs always suggested to visitors.
Currently Samarkand state university consists of following faculties: Faculty of psychology and sociology, Physical training and sport, Pre-School education, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Physics, Faculty of Mechanics-mathematics, Faculty of History, Faculty of Geography and Ecology, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Economics and business, Faculty of Russian Philology, Faculty of Pedagogics, Faculty of Applied mathematics and Informatics. All faculties consist of many educational and research oriented departments and leading laboratories. The total number of departments is 67 at this time. The number of this departments will gradually increase due to interdisciplinary and interuniversity joint discipline. The proposed numbers of this department will reach 85 during the 2020-2021 educational year.
Total number of undergraduate students is about 12603. About 2100 students graduate from the university each year. Almost 90% of them find jobs right after graduation in the local or regional organizations.
Due to wide international partnership agreements most advanced graduates apply for MS program at the leading universities in Europe, Asia and America.
The positive impact of student mobility in different level of its organization did great impact to the internalization programs. Studying abroad and invitation of international students to SamSU fosters education, language skills, cross-cultural contacts, and job opportunities.
Many former SamSU exchange students assess their study period at foreign universities positively. Partnership within mobility projects helped our University strategy of internationalization in many respects: such projects speeded up the development of new courses in English, improved the International relations services, increased number of staff and students interested in Europe and its education system. The mobility projects also did improve the technical procedures of mobility (application process and all supporting documents concerning the mobility). The international exchange programs will increase the international visibility of our university.
