University of Moratuwa, consists of three Faculties namely, Architecture, Engineering and Information Technology with nineteen (19) academic departments offering eleven (11) Bachelors degree programs to students selected by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and fifty six (56) postgraduate programs together with MSc, Phil & PhD research based postgraduate degrees. Read more admitted in February 2014 and another batch of 1609 students was admitted in October 2014 from 2013 A/L batch catching up with some time despite severe space constraints. It must be highlighted that the University has been increasing the annual intake of students over 75% overall and 200% in the IT Faculty during the last ten years to meet the increasing demand for our degree programs and thereby catering the human resource development of our nation.In 2014, 1057 (90.7%) of 1166 students, who sat the final examinations graduated within the minimum stipulated time period to obtain the first degree. The number of degrees conferred, including postgraduate, at the General Convocation in the year 2014 was 1475 of which 1131 were Bachelor degrees and 344 were postgraduate degrees. Tracer survey done in 2014, on employment patterns of graduates, reported that 95.0% of all graduates, 97.10% of the engineering graduates, 100% of IT graduates were employed at the time of the convocation, showing that the graduates of university of moratuwa are much sought after by the industry and its employers in noble task of developing the nation.
