Universitas Syiah Kuala

Universitas Syiah Kuala (recognizablyabbreviated as UNSYIAH) is one the oldest and largest public universities inIndonesia. The university was established in 1961 and it has been developinginto one of the best Indonesian universities. It is located in Banda Aceh -Aceh Province, the northern end of Sumatra Island. Although UNSYIAH affected bythe 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami, the development of UNSYIAH hasbeen accelerated through strong collaborations and partnerships with internationalorganizations and donors with a fully support from the Indonesia government.UNSYIAH has gained Accreditation A from the National Accreditation Board forHigher Education (BAN-PT) and internationally recognizable (9thposition from all Indonesian Universities in Webometrics). UNSYIAH has tightenits connection with the prominent universities in the world through researchand academic collaboration and mobility program. It has been well known as aninternational research university especially in Disaster management field. With12 faculties, UNSYIAH offers various program studies from undergraduate, masterand doctoral programs. Most of the program studies have been ‘A’ accredited bythe BAN-PT.
