Universidad Estatal de Sonora

Centro de Estudios Superiores del Estado de Sonora is a decentralized body of the State Public Administration with legal personality and its own assets, which aims to provide services than through teaching education, research and extension and dissemination of culture, endowed with autonomy in the exercise of their functions of teaching, research and dissemination, to dictate its own bylaws and other systems, to organize its operation and to implement economic resources as it deems appropriate in accordance with the applicable provisions.

On July 18, 1980, is created and serves on the Board for the Promotion of Higher Education in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, AC Its aim was to establish in that city a university where young people could study in higher level, avoiding and migrate to other locations around the state and country, so on October 20, in the city of Hermosillo, the agreement opening the University of San Luis Rio Colorado was established.
