Also known as Universidad Católica de Asunción, the Universidad Católica "Nuestra Señora de la Asunción", Catholic University of Asunción is one of the leading universities in Paraguay. UCA is notable for being an ecclesiastical university, focused primarily on Catholic Christian revelation and the Church’s mission of spreading the Gospel. Universities such as UCA award ecclesiastical doctorates to students, which are required for certain roles within the Catholic Church (e.g. bishop).
