Situated in the heart of Moscow, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST MISIS) focuses on integrating science, education, and innovation, as well as establishing a creative environment for students.


NUST MISIS has over 30 world-class scientific labs and three engineering centers, which employ the leading scientists of the world. 


The university offers 11 Master’s and two postgraduate English-taught programs in science and technology. Students can acquire knowledge in Advanced Materials Science, Quantum Physics, Nanotechnologies or Science Communication.


NUST MISIS is strengthening its focus on the following fields: materials science, metallurgy and mining, as well as strongly reinforcing its presence in biomaterials, nanotechnologies, quantum communications, data science and AI.


NUST MISIS enters TOP-500 best universities according to QS World Rankings (rank# 428). The university takes leading positions in the international subject rankings THE, QS and ARWU in 16 directions, being in the top 50 in “Engineering – Mineral & Mining” (QS) and in the top 100 in “Metallurgical Engineering” (ARWU). In “Materials Science” NUST MISIS takes the 101+ among leading universities (QS) and is the best in Russia.


The academics at NUST MISIS sit within 10 academic colleges and six branches. More than 20,000 students study at NUST MISIS at both undergraduate and graduate level. More than 25 percent of NUST MISIS undergraduate and graduate students are international students choosing to study in Moscow – hailing from 84 countries around the world.

The university offers nine English-medium MSc (S.T.E.M.) programs and English-medium postgraduate programs in two areas: “Physics and Astronomy” and “Materials Technology”.

International Master’s students live in the NUST MISIS Commune House. Not just a living space, NUST MISIS Commune House offers students the opportunity to see large-scale science events. Young scientists and entrepreneurs can use the space to exchange knowledge about cutting-edge technologies with colleagues from Russia and other countries. The Commune House also hosts exhibitions of contemporary art and other cultural events. 


Student accommodation boasts modern kitchens and bathrooms, а laundry room, a football field and a basketball court, a canteen and a cafe. The residence halls are home to nearly 2600 undergraduate and graduate students from Russia and other countries.


Students who like to get involved in sports activities can enjoy the swimming pool and sports complex. There is also a hairdresser, laundry facilities, cafés and canteens. 


NUST MISIS has more than 30 student organizations.


NUST MISIS students can participate in various events, including international hackathons, conferences in breakthrough research areas and modern art exhibitions.


Students at NUST MISIS run their own media, arrange comedy and drama clubs, play in music bands, participate in sports competitions and get support from the International Friendship Club. Soft skills workshops are frequently organized for those who aspire to be leaders in different fields. NUST MISIS students can also utilize the Academic Writing University Center.


Depending on whether you are choosing to study an undergraduate or graduate program at NUST MISIS, the admissions process will vary. 


Students will need to pass one-to-three entrance exams and submit the following admissions documents: 


  • A scanned copy of the passport biographical page with the notarized translation into Russian language;
  • A scanned copy of the Bachelor Diploma Certificate (or equivalent) with the notarized translation into Russian language;
  • Educational Transcript with the notarized translation into Russian language;
  • The Statement on standard medical form indicating no contraindications for studying in Russia, with note on results of HIV, tuberculosis and hepatitis tests with notarized translation into Russian language;
  • The Medical Certificate is expected to have the statements of the following medical specialists: therapist, surgeon, neurologist, otorhinolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, as well as the results of RW blood test and ECG;
  • Motivational letter in English;
  • CV in English.


NUST MISIS’s Career Center has professional connections with more than 1,600 leading Russian and foreign companies, helping students on their professional journey.


Students at NUST MISIS can utilize the university’s career events, including case championships, job fairs, master classes from leading HR experts, career days with employers, etc.


Every year, in partnership with university employers, The Career Center holds over 100 events, organizes more than 9,000 unique internships and externships, as a result of which the best students receive job offers. 98 percent of NUST MISIS alumni are employed in the first six months after graduation.
