  • The Samsung Digital Lab for Hospitality Technology is a purpose-built facility for students to learn and practice the latest technology programmes and devices used in the hospitality and tourism industry.

One of the SHTM's top priorities is ensuring that its programmes are application-oriented to meet its students' needs. The School is geared towards preparing students for careers in the hotel, food service, tourism, and MICE sectors, offering various courses in hotel management and tourism management at the Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management, Master of Science, and Bachelor of Science (Honours)  levels.

To meet the need for industry training, all undergraduate students are required to complete Work-Integrated Education, undertaking industry placements as part of their studies to gain hands-on experience in their chosen fields. The School is also very fortunate to have the support of scholarships donated by industry partners.

  • Work-Integrated Education

Practical work experience is critical for students to become all-round professionals who possess an appropriate level of operational experience and an understanding of industry operations and managerial decision making. For this reason, the SHTM incorporates Work-Integrated Education (WIE) as a mandatory component of all undergraduate programme curriculums.

WIE provides a work-based learning experience that takes place in an organisational context relevant to each student's future profession or to the development of generic skills that are valued in that profession. The focus is to help students develop a range of valuable abilities and to provide opportunities where they can apply theories to real-life situations.

The SHTM’s Hotel ICON Programme provides training for students through a series of professional leadership programmes. The brightest and most promising students within the SHTM have the chance to mirror the management of Hotel ICON by undertaking the Elite Management Programme. Students who complete the programme will gain management experience and acquire the foundation necessary to work as hotel supervisors or managers upon graduation.

SHTM Master of Science (MSc) students are also provided with the opportunity to undertake paid internships at Hotel ICON by engaging themselves in the Management Practice Programme.

  • International Student Exchange Prorgramme
