PolyU students can live either on-campus or off-campus. International students can apply to live on-campus  at one of the university’s two halls of residence; HungHom Halls, and Homantin Halls.

The university’s main language of instruction is English, so those who wish to enroll in a degree program will need to have proven language proficiency. If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the university’s requirement for the TOEFL or IELTS:

  • TOEFL minimum score of 80 for the internet-based test, or 550 for the paper-based test (for undergraduate, master’s and PhD)
  •  IELTS score of at least 6.0 (for undergraduate and master’s)
  •  IELTS score of at least 6.5 (for PhD)


Tuition fees

Tuition fees for international students at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also vary between programs.

The average tuition fees for full-time undergraduate students are HK$140,000 (approximately US$18,000) per academic year.
