Ondokuz Mayis University

Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) is a well-established state university founded in 1975 to breathe new life into the economic, cultural, and social life of the Black Sea Region and to contribute to its development.  Founded as a regional university and with a 50-year history, our university has far surpassed its founding mission and has become one of the most powerful research and educational institutions in our country. Today, with 2,302 academics and 4,320 administrative staff, it serves 50,500 students. With its goal of becoming a large family research university and its mission of internationalization, Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University takes its name from May 19, 1919, the date recorded as the beginning of the War of Independence upon Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's arrival in Samsun, and comprises 19 faculties, 1 college, 14 vocational schools, 4 institutes, 1 conservatory, and 28 applied research centers.
