About
The current Gulistan State University was founded on the basis of the Syrdarya State Pedagogical Institute (SDPI), which started its work for the first time in 1965. There are Uzbek, Kazakh, Russian and Tajik schools in the ancient settlement of Mirzachul, where there is a lack of pedagogues and scientists, the foundation of a higher education institution in the country. In the first year, 400 students were enrolled in one faculty (philology). There are 6 chairs in total. Depending on the need for staff, the faculty has opened departments of Uzbek, Russian, Kazakh and Literature and foreign languages. At the beginning of the year, there were 30 teachers (5 candidates of science).
In the first decade the foundations of the institute were established and new faculties were opened: mathematics, physics, physical training, correspondence departments, librarianship, primary education, history. Up to 1976 the institute prepared 3200 specialists in the national economy and education system. There are 5 to 39 teachers with academic degrees. Anqoboy Kuljonov, Khudoyberdi Doniyorov defended their doctoral dissertation at the institute.
In the second decade, the focus of the lesson is on providing technical support to the lesson. In particular, the introduction of telecast, teaching through technical means, entrance examinations on TV shows, the practice of taking state exams have a great interest not only in the republic, but also in the former Soviet Union. Faculties have been added to the Faculty of Pedagogy, History and Primary Education, as well as the Department of Biology. The scientific potential has also grown, 1 doctoral, 25 candidate dissertation.
The third decade has been remembered in Gulistan by the fact that the current university building was completed. Bright and comfortable study rooms, classrooms equipped with modern equipment, laboratories and chairs were all worthwhile for any well-developed foreign country.
Formation of the University
After the independence of our country, a great attention has been paid to the training of cadres and to the improvement of the educational process. Less than half a year after the announcement of the national liberation movement, it was decided that in February 1992, a number of provinces, including Syrdarya, decided to establish a university.
Today, there are six departments in the university: Philology, Physics and Mathematics, Pedagogy, Natural Sciences and Social and Economic Departments and 21 Departments
Currently, 8814 students are enrolled in the university, with 495 professors trained. . There are 38 doctors of sciences and more than 151 Philosophy doctors. The necessary material and technical base for the students to study in depth and comprehension is created. The database of the Information Resource Center contains more than 4,000 e-books and manuals. In addition, students have access to all the necessary information from the university web site. The website of the University includes textbooks, lecture texts, learning guides and other information.
The university attaches great importance to the development of laboratories like the world's leading educational institutions. Total area of existing laboratories is 2008 square meters. This means that each student is 4.5 square meters flat. In total, 25 study rooms are equipped with laboratory equipment, one language room is equipped with lingaphone.
A wide range of activities are underway to enable students to use the Internet and introduce a local electronic library within the university. There are 30 computer classes in the University, with more than 1971 computers, of which 1971 are connected to the Internet. s.
