COVID-19 Information:

• What is the status of planned campus admission open days/tours?
All the planned events for Spring 2020, including our Open House 2020, have been cancelled. We will be replacing our Open House with a digital format of the event, for which dates will be announced soon.
We are still accommodating virtual consultations with the Admissions Team. Interested students are encouraged to schedule those by contacting the Admissions Office via admissions@webster.ac.at.

• How can applicants contact the university about their application?
Our admissions team may be contacted by e-mail through admissions@webster.ac.at; alternatively, prospective applicants may also send a short message via WhatsApp through mobile number +43 664 427 3641.
As our campus is currently closed, all supporting documents must also be emailed to admissions@webster.ac.at and not by post.
For applicants who have used their school e-mail addresses when they applied online, please make sure to check your school e-mail accounts or provide us with an alternative personal e-mail account so we can reach you easily.

•             How is the university handling applicants whose exams have been cancelled?
Admissions teams across the entire Webster network are monitoring updates and announcements from various international as well as national / state examination bodies. If exams are cancelled but applicants are still expected to officially receive their secondary diplomas, we will review their applications based on academic records and other supporting documents (strength of their essay, recommendations, etc.).

•             What advice is the university offering to applicants unable to take an English-language test due to centers being closed?
For students who have already taken state examinations, we will consider state English examination scores in lieu of standard English proficiency test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.) if these have been cancelled or postponed in their city / country of residence. Official test results may still be required for full acceptance later once English test centers are reopened or are made available online.
TOEFL tests may now be taken from home with remote proctoring in several countries and we expect this to be implemented in more countries soon.
For those who have not yet graduated and are unable to take examinations due to official cancellations, we are currently reviewing the possibility of assessing their English proficiency through their 3-year academic records, essays, past graded coursework in English (such as extended essays, term papers, reports) , and if available, recommendation letters from their English teachers or supervisors if they have worked in international companies.

•             Is the university still accepting applications?
We are still processing and accepting applications and there are no restrictions placed on international applicants. If their countries announce postponement of graduation by more than a few months, we will be able to defer the entry of admitted students to the next possible term or semester.

•             Is the university making any changes to entry requirements (i.e. test results, required documents)
We will make minor adjustments to application requirements in order to accommodate official examination cancellations as well as postponed graduations of high school students; for example, we will accept state examination results in English to replace the standard English tests (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) if such tests are postponed in the applicants’ city or country of residence. For applicants who have not yet graduated, we are currently reviewing the possibility of assessing their English proficiency through their 3-year academic records and essays. If schools are currently closed and recommendation letters will take more time to be submitted, we will also be able to process applications and accept provisionally without these.
For Graduate applicants, we are postponing the required interviews with academic department heads until our campus reopens or our faculty heads are able to return to their offices.

Note: We will update the information above as more decisions are made regarding the English proficiency test requirements.

• How is the university supporting applicants whose visa applications have been delayed?
We've been in contact with local immigration authority who informed us that they will accept all applications per post or email.

We are supporting students as much as we can and referring students to Helping Hands or the OeH Office for Foreign Students to receive expert legal advice. Regarding our current students, we're also exploring doing virtual workshops on how this situation might affect students' residence permit applications (and ability to stay in the country after graduation, i.e. with a job-seeker visa or with a Red-White-Red card).

•             How are applications for university accommodation being handled?
Like most of the universities in Austria, Webster Vienna Private University does not own private dormitory. Instead, we partner with external providers across Vienna, including student housing residences. Students need to apply for their accommodation directly to those providers.
So far, we haven't received an update from any housing partners regarding any adjusted procedures or changes in how they process applications for accommodation amid COVID-19.
