A relatively new university - having been founded only in 2014 - V. I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University can actually trace its roots back to 1918 and the period after the First World War. In that year, Tavrida National V.I. Vernadsky University was established on the current university's grounds, and it went on to speciaize as a medical school. This was driven by the growing popularity of the Crimea in the 1930s as a health resort.
Spread across 42 hectares, the university parks are one of the most impressive features of the V. I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University. You don't have to be a student to enjoy the parks either - during daylight hours, they're also open to the public. The university also has an impressive botanical garden, which is where the university's science library can be found.
Approximately 35,000 students are enrolled at the university across various levels of study.
