The University of Tirana

The University of Tirana is the largest university in Albania and was originally established in 1957. Although classes are mostly taught in Albanian, the foreign language faculties teach in several different languages including English, Chinese, French, Greek, Italian, Spanish and German. In total, the university includes eight colleges, 50 academic departments, and 41 study programs or majors.

While the university's main urban campus is located in Tirana, students are also located at a few smaller affiliate campuses in other cities within Albania, from Saranda to Kukës. A new Tirana campus is currently being planned, which will be based in the south-east of the city. Students currently live in dorms on a separate campus - also in the south-east.

Undergraduate degrees at the university last three years, while postgraduate master's degrees are either one-year or two-year. Doctorate degrees can last between three and five years. 35,000 students across the various levels of education are enrolled.
