Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja offers a wide range of on-campus and distance learning programs across four key areas: administrative, biological and biomedical, socio-humanistic, and technical.
On-campus degrees
On campus learning facilitates the development of education within an environment with spaces and laboratories equipped with cutting-edge apparatuses, technology and physical or digital bibliographic resources -from a dynamic, innovative, practical and collaborative teaching methodology-, which allows permanent interaction between teachers, students and classmates, making this an enriching academic process, thanks to shared ideas, experiences and personal visions.
Open and distance learning degrees
Open and distance learning dilutes the classical models of education and enhances collaborative work and multiculturalism with the exchange of ideas between people from different places, united in an almost face-to-face manner through technological tools. Distance study empowers new attitudes and competencies that evolve balanced with the new generations, providing the versatility that each individual requires according to their form and lifestyle.
Entry requirements and how to apply
If you’re an international student who’s interested in applying to Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, you will need to submit the following:
- Full color photocopy of your identity card or passport
- Full color photocopy of your up-to-date voting certificate
- Full color ID photo
- Photocopy of your bachelor's degree certified by the educational institution conferred by the Directorate of Education or a public notary
If you have obtained your bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in another country other than Ecuador, you must have this recognized and certified by the Ministry of Education of Ecuador.
Important:Remember that the legalization of your registration is essential to ensure your entry to Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja. Failure to carry out this process may cause for the cancellation of enrollment, in accordance with the provisions of Article No. 35 of the Rules of Academic Regulations.

Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja’s campus is a dynamic and inspiring learning environment, equipped with cutting-edge technology, co-working spaces, and green areas. Its library is enriched with a plethora of academic resources, including over 800 cubicles, a multimedia studio room, and more than 56,000 physical books and 203,000 digital books.
Digital tools such as the Virtual Learning Environment, augmented reality, remote laboratories and virtual worlds, among others, to facilitate learning of those people who opt for distance education in their desire to obtain a profession, without neglecting other fundamental aspects of life.
There are, of course, art, culture and sports facilities also at UTLP. With nine sports clubs and 12 art groups, including dance, music and theater, there’s something for every student to get involved with and enjoy.
Other outstanding services and facilities include:
- A free bus system is available for students to use to and from the university’s campus
- An entrepreneurship center where more than 50 initiatives are being developed in Ecuador
- Convention Center where more than 180 events per year are performed
Student accommodation
Students can schedule a one-to-one meeting with the university who need advice and guidance regarding student accommodation in the city of Loja.
There are 21 student-led sport and art groups at the university. UTLP’s Well-Being Department encourages students to join one of its eight sports clubs:
- Athletics
- Basketball
- Football
- Indoor football
- Volleyball
- Sportive dance
- E-sports
- Table tennis (Ping- Pong)
For almost two decades the university’s 10 art groups have been made up of students who represent Ecuadorian diversity in artistic and cultural events all around the world.
Through UTLP’s various facilities and groups, students can develop their artistic and creative side in the fields of contemporary dance, folk music, chamber music, performing arts, and vocal arts, among others.
