Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has been at the forefront of educating healthcare professionals since 1784. It began by being the home of surgical training for Ireland and now the college reflects the diversity of healthcare professions and focuses on improving healthcare training to yield improvements in patient outcomes.

RCSI enjoys an international reputation in research and part of its research strategy is to provide excellence in postgraduate research education. The College offers higher degrees (PhD, MD, MCh and MSc) by research, postdoctoral training and workshops for supervisors and thesis examiners. The College also offers a range of taught Masters courses for healthcare practitioners, managers, surgeons, researchers and technologists.

The School of Postgradaute Studies assists postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers to become fully incorporated into life at RCSI and ensures that they are afforded an optimum environment for personal, scholarly and career development.
