Established in 2004 and located in the thriving entrepreneurial city of Shenzhen, China, Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) brings Peking University’s historical presence to the country’s south and lies at the very heart of one of the world's most promising and dynamic metropolitan areas.

Accredited by EFMD for EPAS and by AACSB, PHBS has rapidly grown in reputation and as a center of international excellence in Business education. It currently offers specialized Master’s programs, dual-degree-Master’s programs with the National University of Singapore and a MBA program.
 The programs also include a Chinese focus in the context of a global perspective allowing students to develop a deeper understanding of business and economics in China, making them more competitive in the job market domestically and internationally or even better prepared to open a business in this dynamic country.    

With internationalization as its goal, PHBS has taken a bold step by opening a new campus in Oxfordshire, England. Students admitted to the cross-border programs spend the first year of their master's degrees at the PHBS UK Campus, and their second year at the PHBS Shenzhen Campus in China, alongside Chinese peers and in an environment of cross-cultural dialogue.

  • Peking University HSBC Business School has more than 70 internationally educated faculty members with PhDs from leading universities around the world.

    In PHBS’s commitment to research, Nobel Prize in Economics winner, Professor Thomas Sargent, has joined PHBS to conduct research as the head of the “Sargent Institute of Quantitative Economics and Finance”.
    As well, renowned Chinese economist, Professor Fan He joined PHBS as the head of the “Research Institute of Marine Silk Road”, with research Institute of Marine Silk Road”, with research focusing on China’s newest initiative, “One Belt One Road”.

  • PHBS has established 10 Research institutes to enrich the academic research and contribute to the future innovation.
    In addition to these institutes, PHBS provides an appropriate research environment for both students and faculty members with its financial lab’s large amenities.

  • In order to enhance the diversity of our student body, PHBS has created a school funded scholarship, specifically for international students. The scholarship provides qualified international students with strong academic and professional records with either half-tuition or full-tuition scholarship funding


At PHBS, international and domestic students have the opportunity to participate in many events and activities on and off-campus.  PHBS students can join a number of different professional or sports Associations on campus.

The basic requirements for international students for both PHBS Shenzhen Campus programs (Management, Finance and Economics) and PHBS UK-Shenzhen Cross-Border programs (Management and Finance) are:

  • Graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport
  • Have a proof of English proficiency with a satisfactory TOEFL (80 and above) or IELTS (6.5 and above) score (not required for native English speakers)



Peking University ranks 20th in the Global 500 of the QS Graduate Employability Ranking 2019, and it has the country’s highest score in the Alumni Outcomes indicator.
