O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a non-profit global university established under the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2009. JGU is a philanthropic initiative in the memory of Mr. O.P. Jindal.

The University aspires to be a role model for institutional excellence in higher education among leading institutions in the world as a multidisciplinary, research driven university fostering excellence in teaching, research, community service, and capacity building, nurturing socially responsible leaders through an eclectic and sustainable approach, serving the local, regional and national communities. JGU currently has eight schools, viz., Jindal Global Law School, Jindal Global Business School, Jindal School of International Affairs, Jindal School of Government and Public Policy, Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities,  Jindal School of Journalism and Communication, Jindal School of Art and Architecture, the Jindal School of Banking and Finance and the Jindal School of Environment and Sustainability. These schools provide 13 undergraduate programmes, 7 postgraduate programmes and a university-wide doctoral program.

JGU also has 3 research and capacity building institutes including the Jindal institute of Behavioural Sciences, International Institute for Higher Education Research and Capacity Building, Jindal institute of Leadership Development and Executive Education.

The mission of JGU is to promote global courses, global programmes, global curriculum, global research, global collaborations, and global interactions through global faculty.  JGU is one of the few universities in Asia with 1:9 faculty-student ratio. JGU has approximately 569 faculty members of whom 3 are Rhodes scholars. 50% faculty members are alumni from 200 top global universities and 14% international faculty members from 26 different countries. JGU has approximately 5100 students from 29 Indian States and Union territories and 20 countries with 60% students on scholarship. JGU has outstanding male-female ratio in all its areas including students and faculty members. As a research driven university, JGU faculty have authored over 2000 publications and are part of 55+ interdisciplinary research centers.

JGU has entered into 250+ collaborations with universities across 52 countries for 85 student exchange collaborations, 63 faculty exchange and development programmes and 22 joint collaborations. Each year over 30 international students from 20 countries choose to study with JGU, besides over 250 international students who study for short term and exchange programmes.

In 2016, JGU was awarded the then highest 'A Grade' from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), becoming the first private university in Haryana to do so. Based on this, JGU is one of two private universities in India to be conferred autonomy as a Category II HEI under the UGC Graded Autonomy Regulations 2018. In 2017, JGU was adjudged the cleanest campus in India with a first rank in the Swachhta rankings of all higher education institutions in India. JGU was also conferred a Diamond Rating by QS i-Gauge and was ranked in the top 400 universities in the BRICS region and top 350 in Asia by QS. 

In 2019, JGU broke into the QS World University Rankings, coming in at the 751-800 band, making it the youngest university in the world to do so. In 2020, the Jindal Global Law School was the highest ranked law school in India in the QS Rankings by Subject. JGU also moved up by a possible 100 ranks in the 2021 edition of the QS WUR and is presently ranked in the 651-700 range. This makes JGU the highest ranked Private University in India and the highest ranked Indian university dedicated to the Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.
