There are a number of postgraduate courses available at OIST.
However, courses mainly have a focus on Chemistry; Environmental and Ecological Sciences; Marine Sciences; Mathematical and Computational Sciences; Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology; Neuroscience; Physics. Why OIST?
Students hoping to earn a place on an OIST Graduate Program will need to have completed a Bachelors, Masters or equivalent degree prior to the admission date.
Students in the PhD program are expected to engage full-time in advanced study and research. Financial support of 2.4 million yen per year (taxable) is provided for each year of approved full-time study. Course fees will also be covered. Students additionally receive support for relocation to Okinawa, a personal computer and financial support for educational travel and conference attendance.
While the university maintains a financial support system, students are strongly encouraged to apply for external fellowships.

OIST Graduate School offers a number of 2-6-month Research Internships for both undergraduate and postgraduate placements. Interns work with an OIST professor and contribute to the research activities of OIST.
