Master of Science and Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
The Master of Science and Postgraduate Diploma programmes aim at equipping the managers and future managers a combination of most advanced knowledge and management know-how in hospitality and tourism contexts. They feature a highlight on research and analytical competency development, an innovation orientation, as well as an exposure to real life management scenarios, all of which allow graduates to operate and manage in a highly dynamic environment. The programmes are structured by different combinations of learning modules, including internationalisation, hospitality, tourism, management, and project report/ internship & report.

Master of Philosophy Programme (MPhil)
The Master of Philosophy in International Hospitality and Tourism Management aims at preparing students for research and managerial positions in hospitality and tourism, equipping students with knowledge and skills in contributing to the advancement of the hospitality and tourism industry, as well as paving way for further research pursuit.

Macao University of Tourism (ex-Macao Institute for Tourism Studies) sets up various scholarships and fellowships to encourage freshmen, current students and graduates/alumni to further their studies and participate in different overseas experience programmes so as to broaden their horizon. Application Requirements of postgraduate programmes
- A bachelor's degree in the areas of hotel and tourism management, food and beverage management, recreation and leisure management, or the like; OR
- A bachelor's degree in areas other than those listed above; admitted applicant may be required to enroll in at least one bridging course with a normal course duration of 40 hours.
- Both the International Food and Beverage Management and the International Gastronomy Management programmes are management-rich food studies programme. They are predominantly class-based teaching and are marginally related to practical cooking. As such, admission requires competencies in related fields of food studies - whether cooking ‘per se’ or not, which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
- Bridging course is not applicable to Digital Marketing and Analytics.
- The following mainland applicants are required to submit current year’s National Postgraduate Entrance Examination (NPEE) permit and results reaching the required score line (一區分數線).
- Mainland applicants who are not bachelor’s degree graduates of the current year
- Mainland applicants who have obtained their bachelor's degree through self-study
- Mainland applicants who have obtained their bachelor's degree through online courses
PhD Programs
Application Requirements of Doctoral degree programmes
Doctor of Philosophy in Hospitality and Tourism Management
This research-based PhD programme is designed for candidates who wish to pursue a career in the academia or a research-related field. Applicants must possess a master’s degree or above and are required to submit a dossier comprised of a research proposal (around 3,000 to 5,000 words) and other necessary documents to demonstrate proven ability in embarking on independent research with an original contribution to the body of knowledge in a relevant area.
The master’s degree possessed must have a dissertation component as a graduation requirement and preferably focused within the hospitality or tourism domain, though this is not mandatory. Equivalent qualification may be considered on a case-by-case basis (e.g. a research-related qualification in lieu of the dissertation component at the master’s level). All applications will be evaluated by the Admission Panel which make decisions accordingly.
Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
Applicants fulfilling any of the following criteria are eligible to apply for DBA Degree Programmes:
- Holders of master’s degrees in business, management or related fields; or
- For holders of master's degrees in other fields (e.g. non-social study fields, science fields), a holistic evaluation needs to be conducted that takes into account their overall education background and working experience.
Work Experience Requirement:
- Three years in management level positions; or
- Applicants employed in organisations where management-level positions may not be applicable (e.g., Non-for-Profit organisations or government departments) will have their supervisory-level positions considered as equivalent for the purpose of evaluation.
