Indian Institute of Technology Ropar

Located in Rupnagar, Punjab, India, the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar specializes in engineering, science and technology education. Established as recently as 2008, it’s one of eight newer Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) to exist in the country.

Having initially been based on a temporary campus, IIT Ropar has now started operations from its permanent campus at Birla Seed Farms. The computer science department was the first to move to this new 525-acre home, with the electrical engineering, chemistry and mechanical departments soon to follow.

IIT Ropar consists of 10 academic departments in total. These are: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.
