Updated January 16, 2020 Updated January 16

The 2015 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject – this year covering more subjects than ever before – will be published on 29 April 2015. With six new subjects added this year, the rankings will now highlight the world’s top-performing universities in 36 distinct disciplines.

Compiled annually, the QS World University Rankings by Subject aim to provide a useful resource for prospective students worldwide, who are seeking to identify the most prestigious and influential institutions in their chosen subject of study. The subject rankings draw on a methodology similar to that used for the overall QS World University Rankings®, with institutions scored for academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact.

New subjects added – business, architecture, dentistry and more

Catering to growing demand for international comparisons of universities at subject level, this year sees the addition of six new subjects to the set. For the first time, prospective students will be able to use the tables to compare the world’s top universities in business and management, art and design, architecture, veterinary science, development studies and dentistry.

Several existing subject tables will also be extended to feature more universities than previously, with the published range being extended for biological sciences, chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering, English language & literature, environmental sciences, mathematics, mechanical engineering, medicine, modern languages and physics.

This extension means more universities than ever before will be highlighted. As a result, prospective international students will have access to even more information about the top-performing schools in their discipline across the globe.

*News update on the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015*

The planned publication of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015 has been postponed for a few weeks.

In 2015, we have introduced minor methodological refinements to allow for improved discrimination, particularly among specialist institutions that are now featuring more materially in our work. Our new subjects for this year include several  – such as veterinary sciences, art & design, architecture, dentistry and business & management studies – that are delivered by single-faculty institutions as well as large, comprehensive universities.

We approach our work with passion, dedication, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility. In response to feedback, we have decided to extend the consultation process, to fully articulate the methodological refinements.

*Update*

The new release date has now been confirmed for 29 April 2015, as now correctly detailed in the announcement above. Results will be available from this page.
