Dr. M. G. R. Educational and Research Institute

Aiming to bring about change and progress through education, the Tmt. Kannammal Educational Trust was constituted in 1985 and started Thai Moogambigai Polytechnic College. Within three years of its inception, Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College was founded in 1988, and the Thai Moogambigai Dental College was started in the year 1991. Both the colleges acquired Deemed University status in 2003 as Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute as per the orders of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi and the Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, New Delhi and accredited with NAAC A+ grade. The departments are also accredited by NBA, ABET, NABH and meets all statutory requirements.  The University has Special Graded Autonomy Status, Category II of UGC and Offers wide range of Programmes under 14 different Faculties including Medical, Dental, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Education. The University has a clear vision in aligning itself with the various SDGs and both the academic and research contributions have brought in phenomenal changes in the society widely adding strength towards attainment of the same through all its activities. The University has World Class infrastructure and also offers various dimensions of support to the students through the NSS, NCC, Office of International Affairs, Industry Institute Planning Cell, Energy Saving Club, IGEN activities, Sports, Research and Development, Outcome Based Education etc. The teaching fraternity is a combination of senior academicians and youngsters who are motivated to achieve excellence in both teaching-learning and scholarly activities. The University is associated with various Government Organizations like DRDO, ISRO, MSME, Coirboard, MORD, MSDE, MoE, DST, DBT, BIRAC, SERB etc for  impactful R & D activities.
