Xidian has over 31,000 students including 21,349 undergraduate students, 9,154 master students, and 1,561 Ph.D. students. At present, there are over 1900 full-time faculty, of whom 292 are professors and 820 are associate professors.The university consists of 17 schools. There are 4 state key laboratories and 15 university research institutes and centers. At present, Xidian has 7 national key disciplines, 40 doctoral programs, 77 master’s programs and 50 undergraduate programs. In the fields of communication networks, signal and information processing, information security, microelectronics and mechatronics, Xidian possesses distinctive advantages and features in cultivation and scientific research at home and abroad. In the national assessment of the first-level disciplines in China in 2012, its “information and communication engineering” ranked the second and its “electronic science and technology” ranked the fourth.Since its establishment in 1931, Xidian has cultivated more than 200,000 graduates and postgraduates in the fields of engineering and technology. In the new era of knowledge economy and in the digital age, Xidian has been making great efforts to upgrade itself into an international, innovative university with distinctive features, first-rate in China and famous in the world.
