SISU’s graduate education made its debut in 1954. Since 1978, SISU has experienced a sustained growth in the number of fields of study and students enrolled. In 1981, SISU was listed as China’s first batch of universities authorized to confer master’s degrees, followed by the authorization to confer doctoral degrees in 1983. As the graduate programs developed steadfastly, the Graduate School of SISU was established in 1998. Up to January 2020, the Graduate School has an enrolment of 4091 full-time postgraduates from home and abroad (3624 domestic students and 467 international students), studying in 19 doctoral programs and 46 master’s programs, of which 58 are research-oriented academic programs and 7 are skill-based professional programs. SISU boasts a dedicated faculty with a balanced focus on teaching and research, including 427 professors and associate professors whose outstanding academic achievements have enjoyed high recognition. Under the close supervision of their tutors, SISU graduate students have excelled remarkably in thesis/treatise publication, international conference presentation, overseas internship, study abroad schemes and joint doctoral programs.
