MGIMO is renowned as one of Russia’s leading universities for international, political, legal and economic studies. The mission of MGIMO, as an academic center and a think-tank, is to provide top-quality training and research on the contemporary agenda of global politics and economics, shape a new generation of foreign policy practitioners and thinkers for the benefit of Russia and the international community. MGIMO has granted honorary doctorate degrees to prominent foreign politicians, public experts, diplomats and scholars, such as the presidents of France and Greece, Chile and Ecuador, Serbia, and Guinea, Indonesia and Finland, Azerbaijan and Jordan; prime ministers of Japan and India; general secretaries of the United Nations and UNESCO. 

A key priority of MGIMO’s international policy is the development of bilateral and multilateral international relations, and the promotion of educational and scientific exchanges.

MGIMO students have plenty of opportunities to practice sports, as the University has a Sports center equipped with modern infrastructure with a full range of equipment and professional trainers. Students can play football, mini-football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, and practice shooting. There are several martial arts classes students can attend, as well as, group fitness sessions. Students can also use the gym, the tennis hall and the sauna. MGIMO has a 6 lane swimming pool, considered one of the best in Moscow. MGIMO has on campus an outdoor stadium, a soccer field, jogging lanes, volleyball and basketball courts, outdoor tennis courts, and grounds for mini-football and other sports.

The MGIMO Volunteering Center established in 2011 provides training for almost 1,000 students who directly assisted in the coordination of XXII Olympic Games, XI Paralympic Games 2014, the World Football Cup 2018.

MGIMO has its own private Medical Center.  The clinic provides assistance in the following areas: general practice, ophthalmology, psychological counseling, otolaryngology, physical therapy diagnosis, and dental care.

The Library’s history dates back to the establishment of our University in 1944. It holds more than 770,000 printed books and periodicals in 62 languages, over 2,220,000 e-books and e-journals and a collection of rare books and manuscripts. The Library supports the learning and research needs across all disciplines of the University and offers to its readers a combination of traditional resources and modern technologies.

The MGIMO Cultural Center hosts entertainment and creative activities for students and graduates in the University’s 800+ seat conference hall, including balls, discos, New Year parties, alumni meetings and a range of other events. In addition to the singing, theater and dance lessons, there are a fine arts studio and a film society, as well as, many other projects in which MGIMO students are actively involved.

MGIMO University includes in its structure a specialized division aimed at supporting and promoting successful employment of its graduates – the MGIMO Career Center.

The MGIMO Career Center carries out various tasks related to the career guidance of young specialists in the international sphere, including vocational counseling, monitoring the professional development of students and graduates and employment assistance.

The MGIMO Career Center provides students with prestigious career and internasip opportunities through its collaboration with many public and private organizations, such as ministries, federal and local administrative bodies, transnational corporations, mass media, think tanks  and political consulting firms.

The MGIMO Career Center has signed long-term cooperation agreements on internships with over 100 companies, both Russian and international, allowing students to start their careers early on by doing internships, which are integrated into their curriculum.

The MGIMO Career Center seeks to assist students in embarking on their perfect career path through a large scope of means, such as implementing career guidance courses and tests into education plans, organizing lectures, presentations, case studies and workshops with the participation of potential employers and partner companies, holding Career Day events, posting information about job openings, internships and other career opportunities.

Over 50 Russian and international companies take part in the traditional MGIMO International Career Day, which is held twice a year welcoming over 5000 guests. Career Day activities include poster sessions, presentations, seminars, career aptitude tests and competitions.

The MGIMO Career Center is one of the main founders of the all-Russian Career Centers Association, established in March 2018. The Association sees its primary task in building a strong network of career guidance institutions across Russia to enable experience sharing, as well as, cooperating with governmental structures with the view to optimize the employment processes of students and graduates. 

Over the years, the career guidance strategy of the University has proven to yield positive results. According to the 2019 version of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings, the University enjoys a 100% graduate employment rate (measured within 12 months of graduation), topping the list of world universities by this indicator.

MGIMO University is the alma mater of many successful diplomats, politicians and businessmen scattered around the globe, including several heads of state, a multitude of high-ranking officials in different countries and business leaders cited in Forbes lists. MGIMO graduates are also highly present in the international research community.
