The MIM program is a pre-experience program that prepares talented minds for careers in global business. The program is divided into two tracks with a focus on international management.

The tracks are:
•    Quantitative Business - for quantitative decision analysts and one track
•    Innovative Management - for creative and strategic thinkers.

Depending on the track, students can choose between four specializations:
•    Business Analytics
•    Finance & Investments
•    Entrepreneurship & Innovation
•    Global & Digital Strategy

Program highlights include:
•    Full-time
•    24 months
•    6-11 months of integrated project and work experience
•    90 students total
•    85-90% international students
•    Average age 23
•    Average work experience 5 months

The program
The two-year program combines fieldwork in global companies with applied coursework and research on the latest business and management theories. Admitted students have a variety of academic backgrounds and use the time at ESMT to gain valuable knowledge and interdisciplinary experience to apply their previous expertise to economic and management problems.

The language of instruction is English. However, all students study a new language during the program. For non-native German speakers, MIM candidates learn German to increase their competitiveness on the German job market, and complete internships immersed in the German corporate culture. Native German speakers choose a language needed to manage relationships in the world's fastest growing economies.
During module 1, students take management core courses together in a single cohort. Most courses include components for teamwork and presentation to hone the students' communication and conflict resolution skills.

After the core module of the program, students take courses related to their chosen track in module 2, either quantitative business or innovative management

In module 3 students complete an internship of up to six months with a company and industry that meets their career goals. German students are encouraged to complete their internship abroad. ESMT works with a growing number of companies to offer internships. Current internship partners, include Allianz, Axel Springer, Barclays, BMW, Bosch, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Post, E.ON, EY, Gazprom, McKinsey, Siemens, ThyssenKrupp and many more.

After the first internship and a combined capstone module in October, students move on to module 4 and choose one of four specializations in order to develop a tangible value proposition for companies looking for talent.

•    Business Analytics: Data Science and Data Mining, Predictive Analytics, Advanced Decision Analysis, Spreadsheet Modeling, Ethics in Data Analytics
•    Finance & Investments: Valuating Companies, International Finance & Risk Management, Entrepreneurial Finance and FinTech, Portfolio Management
•    Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Innovation and New Product Management, The Human Factor of Innovation, 'Startup Challenge', Design Thinking
•    Global & Digital Strategy: Understanding Global Challenges, Strategic International Management, Digital Disruption & Business Models, Digital Marketing

Module 5 is comprised of the Social Impact Project. Students work on a group assignment in an NGO, social venture or in a corporate social responsibility department of a global firm in Germany or abroad. This assignment allows students to observe how the global marketplace plays out in other parts of the world and other levels of society. It is the students' opportunity to give back and learn how to be a life-long engaged global citizen. Previous projects include:
•    DHL, India - Identifying opportunities to foster the collaboration between DHL and SOS Children Villages
•    UNDP, Uganda- finding innovative solutions to make Uganda Tourism Ecosystem Platform (UTEP) financially sustainable in the mid- and long term

In addition, all students have the option to apply for the Portfolio Management Program. Those wishing to gain experience in portfolio management have the opportunity to manage a fund of €1 million per year. The first year students act as analysts and second year students as portfolio managers.
