Universities discuss ways to improve learning infrastructure

At this year’s International Presidential Forum on Global Research Universities, representatives of universities from around the world discussed ways to improve ‘learning infrastructure’. The event was hosted by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and had a strong focus on the use of technological innovation, The Korea Herald reports.

Indian students still worried about safety in Australia

According to a report compiled by the British Council, safety concerns are still deterring many Indian students from studying in Australia, reflecting the continued impact of a number of widely reported attacks on Indian students three years ago. As The Age reports, Australia’s Race Discrimination Commissioner, Helen Szoke, has recently set out a ‘bill of rights’ for international students.

Lecturer claims UK universities lowering standards for international students

In an anonymous interview, a UK lecturer has told the BBC that some universities are lowering academic standards to cater for international students with low English language proficiency. Specifically, the lecturer said exams are being replaced with coursework on MBA courses, and suggested this could make it easier to cheat.

Most of India’s MBA graduates found to be ‘unemployable’

According to a report published by employability consultancy Aspiring Minds, the majority of India’s business school graduates are not employable. The Hindustan Times reports that after administering a test at business schools across the country, the company concluded that only 2.5% of this year’s MBA graduates are suitable for business consulting, 7.9% for work as analysts, 6.9% in marketing, 9.6% in human resources, and 7.6% in banking and finance.
