2015年，联合国大会提出了2030年的17项可持续发展目标，作为一项紧急行动呼吁，以确保所有人享有繁荣并且保护地球。

在这个深受战争、金融不平等和环境危机影响的世界里，迫切需要有知识和技能的毕业生来提出解决方案。

我们采访了上智大学的丸山秀树教授，了解到他们将于2020年9月启动的新的可持续发展未来计划 (SPSF) ，以及该计划如何培养学生的知识和技能，以应对当今真正全球化世界的可持续发展挑战。

可持续性是所有行业和部门的问题

“在人类日益紧迫的问题上，在我们面临社会和自然界快速变化的今天，没有人可以忽视可持续发展，”丸山教授警告说。

但是，学习可持续未来学位有什么帮助呢？在索菲亚大学的可持续发展的未来英语课程中，未来的学生在申请新闻学、教育学、社会学、经济学、管理学或全球研究（国际关系和地区研究）六个系中的一个系时，会指定自己想要的专业，并额外侧重于可持续性和可持续发展。

当被问及学生们可以从该专业中获得怎样的收获时，丸山教授告诉我们，“学生可以主修本系提供的一个学科，也可以主修本专业的跨学科内容。”

“这意味着他们可以选择学习自己的专业，也可以选修其他学科的课程。”

学位不仅能让你掌握应对全球挑战的知识，还能帮助培养你解决复杂问题的专业技能，使你在解决这些复杂问题时具有战略性和适应性。

为了帮助解决现代社会所面临的挑战，你的批判性思维、创造性地解决问题、在多元化的团队中工作和有效沟通的能力正是未来的全球领导者所需要的。

获得实习和实际工作经验的机会

学习索菲亚未来可持续发展项目的学生有机会通过实习、实地调研和其他活动，将所学的知识应用到实际问题上，在这里，他们可以发展自己的专业和学术技能，提高对所选学科的理解。

“学生们可以在东京市中心的全球环境中学习，这里有很多大公司的总部和办事处，可以提供实习和服务。”丸山教授说。

为现代社会中的全球挑战寻找解决方案并做出积极贡献

在学位的最后阶段，学生可以努力为实际问题提供确切的解决方案，这些问题也可以融入到他们的毕业论文中。

你可能很难想象自己当初在国外留学的情景，更不用说学习适应陌生的习俗和传统了。但这是绝对有可能的——你不会找到比日本更受欢迎的国家。

到2020年，日本政府的目标是吸引30万名学生赴日留学，但是，是什么原因让东京成为了吸引全球各地学生的留学目的地呢？

连续两年被评为世界第二受欢迎的留学生城市.....

..根据最新的QS最佳学生城市，来自印度尼西亚的留学生Klara Kristianingtyas也持同样的观点，她目前在东京市中心的上智大学攻读绿色科学与工程硕士。

"东京是一个适合生活、学习、工作的好城市，你需要的一切都在这个城市里，就像其他大都市一样。"她说。

东京的地区和街区错落有致，各有千秋，使它成为一个充满了反差的、真正国际化的地方。

"最重要的是找到一个真正适合自己生活方式的地方，如果你能想象自己在东京这样的大城市生活，那么你就会知道如何去享受。"Klara说。

你可以在优秀的院校攻读英语专业的项目

为了鼓励更多的学生出国留学，去日本攻读学位，很多大学都开设了英语授课的学位课程。其中，在2019年QS日本大学排名前30名的上智大学是一所口碑很好的大学，其绿色科学与工程专业提供英语授课的学位课程。

我们请Klara跟我们分享了她的学习经历。

"与其他工科项目不同的是，在绿色工程中，我们有机会根据自己的需要去学习很多工科领域的知识，并不断地了解最新的科学技术发展。"

当被问及来到上智大学后的第一印象是什么时，克拉拉对她受到的热情款待印象特别深刻。

"每学期开学初，我们都会为新住户举行欢迎会，所有住户都不辞辛劳地准备晚会，为新住户们送上最热情的欢迎。"她补充道。

庆祝浴衣节

浴衣节，是上智大学的学生、老师和教职员穿上浴衣的专属活动，让校园变得热闹非凡。

"每年春季学期都会有一天，每个人都要穿浴衣上学，包括教授们。在这一天里，学生们可以体验到日本茶道、汉字书法等等。"克拉拉解释说。

让来自世界各国的学生在学习的同时，真正了解日本文化。

东京是一个喜欢发明和再创造的城市

东京科技感十足的态度意味着它经常因其最先进的科技而备受赞誉，对于那些热爱时尚、新奇和令人兴奋的事物的人来说，这里也是一个小玩意的天堂，从机器人到智能城市，可以肯定的是东京是一个充满乐趣的大都市，并且它不惧怕变化。

观赏樱花节

毫无疑问，樱花祭无疑是世界上最美的景象之一，上野公园等城市周边的众多公园在花海期间都会挂上自己的花灯——这是樱花季节开始户外派对的一个标志。

Klara说，索菲亚大学的很多学生也都会举办自己的赏樱活动，以庆祝和享受新春佳节。

东京不仅仅是一个水泥森林——而且是原始公园和绚丽花朵的家园

新宿御苑国立花园、上野公园、皇宫东园、代代木公园等，这些都是你在远离东京繁华街道的喧嚣时可以去的静谧公园，这一点是Klara非常欣赏的。"这里可能会有点太忙，可能有的时候你会觉得一切都太快了，想放慢脚步。"

"要知道，你可以随时放慢脚步。没必要跟着别人的节奏走。"

东京是一个充满了色彩的城市

对于很多人来说，一提到东京，首先想到的就是东京的霓虹灯，但霓虹灯并不是东京唯一的色彩来源。

"春天的时候，一切都是粉红色的，以迎接樱花的到来，然后到了夏天，烟花就会璀璨起来。"Klara说。

"树叶开始飘落，用橙色覆盖街道，提醒你秋天已经到来，然后，在不知不觉中，整个城市被冬日的灯光照亮，在冬天里给人以温暖。"

交通系统是难以匹敌的

东京还有一个优点，那就是高效、干净的地铁，能以最快的速度将您送到您所需要的地方，让您在城市中的出行变得轻而易举。

考虑到东京有1300万人口，地铁有时会很忙，Klara告诉我们，"虽然在上下班高峰期非常拥挤，但地铁给我带来了自由，让我可以自由地穿梭于各个地方。"

如果在周末或大学休息期间，你想探索更多的东京和日本的景点，那么乘坐子弹头列车可能是最好的选择，因为它们比一般的列车更快，覆盖的距离更远。

子弹列车的准点率是出了名的，事实上，2017年11月，日本一家子弹头列车公司曾因提前20秒发车而道歉。

满足你想浪迹天涯的愿望

说起旅行...出国留学不能不去探险。东京有很多地方可以满足你的游历欲望，比如看歌舞伎表演、相扑比赛(又称芭蕉舞团)，或者去东京湾的台场——人工岛上的高科技娱乐中心，你必须亲眼目睹才会相信!

如果您想去体验六本木地区的艺术和文化，可以去参观森美术馆和天文台，也可以去东京都中城游玩。对于喜欢购物的人来说，名声在外的原宿区也是必去的地方。

如果您想加深对日本文化的理解和欣赏，市内有很多寺庙和神社可以参观。尤其是明治神宫和仙宗寺，更是值得一看。

对于那些喜欢挑战的人来说，可以坐上子弹头列车，向着富士山的方向，计划一天的徒步旅行。如果说远足还不能让你喘不过气来，那么美景一定会让你心动。

或者，如果你对徒步旅行感到厌倦，你可以选择去日本温泉，像真正的日本人一样放松一下。

掌握多国语言

很多学生因为语言障碍而对留学日本的愿景望而却步，但不要因此而退缩。大部分的公共标志也都有英文翻译，所以你在城市里找路应该不会有太大的麻烦。

这里的人也非常热情好客，如果你选择接受当地的风土人情和文化，并尝试着学习一下日语，你会得到更多的热情和赞赏。

事实上，Klara发现，与来自世界各地的朋友们交了朋友后，她不仅学会了日语，还学会了朋友们的语言。

"我有来自世界各地的朋友，我们仍然保持着联系。我现在每到一个地方，总会有朋友相聚，有地方住，"她说。

有1.28亿人使用日语，它被认为是一门很有价值的语言。以下是一些短语，可以帮助你入门。

Konnichiwa - 你好/早上好

说到美食，你会被宠坏的

最后......美食! 东京的美食不止是新鲜的寿司和面条。初来乍到的时候，可能会有一些试探性的想法，但也有可能会因为习惯了不同的口味和口感而感到不适应，也不是每个地方都会有英文菜单，所以点菜时要慎重选择。

东京是世界上米其林星级餐厅最多的地方，高档料理店和别出心裁的街边小吃摊同在一条街上的情况并不少见，只要食物好，大家都会很开心。

还有一件事----在东京（乃至整个日本），说到吃喝，大家都认为吃喝应该是一种享受。这就意味着不能同时处理多项任务——所以请不要在地铁上吃东西或喝东西！

留学生人数超过了日本其他所有大学

搬到一个新的城市，更不用说到一个新的国家去学习了，这看起来相当令人生畏，但是，当你和成百上千的人一起生活和学习时，知道自己并不孤单，起码这能让你感到一些欣慰。

事实上，每年在早稻田大学留学的海外学生约有8000人左右，早稻田大学国际通识教育学院的学生中，有三分之一是国际学生。

"我过得很开心，并且交到了上百个朋友，即使在校外也会不断遇到他们。我还有一群亲密的朋友，有的是日本人，有的是来自其他国家的，和他们在一起，我总能感受到新的东西。"志颖说。

Top Universities in Japan 2019

The first ever edition of the QS Japan University Rankings has now been released, and sees 75 Japanese universities rank among the best in the nation. The universities are ranked based on a methodology of 11 key indicators, which include: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio (which assesses the proportion of full-time academic staff members employed per student enrolled), and more.

If you’re considering studying abroad in Japan, read on for a detailed look into the core academic attributes of the country’s top 10 universities, as presented in the QS Japan University Rankings 2019.

10. Keio University

As Japan’s very first private institution for higher education, Keio University was established by Yukichi Fukuzawa in 1858 in Edo (now Tokyo) as a school for Western studies. It’s currently ranked 10^th in the Japan university ranking 2019, and 198^th in the world, according to the QS World University Rankings® 2019.

With over 300 partner institutions overseas, Keio is home to world-class teaching facilities and a wide range of academic programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It achieves its highest score for its employer reputation, followed by the international research network indicator, which assesses an institution’s international research collaborations, and academic reputation.

9. Waseda University

Waseda University is based at the heart of the modern but traditional Japanese capital, Tokyo. This year sees it rank 208^th in the world university rankings and ninth in the Japan ranking.

With a near perfect score for its employer reputation, the university already boasts seven prime ministers and a myriad of other leaders within a wide range of career sectors amongst its alumni. As Japan’s most diverse campus (with 5,000 international students from 100 countries), it also scores the highest in the top 10 for the indicator measuring each institution’s percentage of international students.

8. Kyushu University

With a history tracing back to 1903, Kyushu University is the fourth-oldest university in Japan and as one of the largest contributors to higher education in the country, currently ranks at joint 126^th in the world.

Standing at eighth place in the QS Japan University Rankings, Kyushu University achieves its highest score for the indicator which measures international research network, followed by faculty/student ratio, and employer reputation.

Throughout history, the university has boasted an alumni of highly-regarded figures, which include Japanese engineer and JAXA astronaut, Koichi Wakata; and well-known Japanese manga artist, Masashi Kishimoto (creator of Naruto), among many others.

7. Hokkaido University

Founded in 1876 as Sapporo Agricultural College, Hokkaido University was, in its beginnings, Japan’s first institute of higher education to award bachelor’s degrees. It’s a member of the Imperial Universities, a group that comprises some of the nation’s most prestigious universities, and were founded by the Empire of Japan.

Currently ranking at joint 128^th in the world and seventh in the Japan ranking, Hokkaido University achieves very high scores across most of the 10 indicators, particularly those which measure international research network, faculty/student ratio, and staff with PhD.

6. Nagoya University

Nagoya University is one of the leading seven Imperial Universities, and was first established in 1939. Over the decades, the university has achieved some of the highest standards in research and accounts for almost one third of Japan’s Nobel Laureates in science.

Ranked 111^th in the world and as the nation’s sixth most prestigious institution for higher education, Nagoya University receives the second-highest score in the top 10 for the faculty/student ratio indicator, and a near-perfect score for the indicator used to assess international research network – which is no surprise, given the university’s enduring excellence in research.

5. Tohoku University

As the nation’s third Imperial University and one of the National Seven Universities, Tohoku University is currently ranked 77^th in the world university rankings, and was Japan’s first university to admit females and international students.

Ranked fifth in Japan, the university receives excellent scores across most of the 10 indicators, with near perfect scores for those used to assess faculty/student ratio and international research network – the latter reflecting its innovative achievements in technological inventions, including fiber optics and the perpendicular magnetic recording, to name a couple.

4. Tokyo Institute of Technology

With two of its campuses located in Japan’s clean and vibrant capital, and the third situated in Yokohama just 30 minutes away by train, the Tokyo Institute of Technology is one of the world’s leading research universities for practical science and engineering education, currently ranking 58^th in the world.

It comes fourth in this year’s Japan rankings, achieving near-perfect scores for six of the 10 indicators, and scoring the highest in the top 10 for the papers per faculty indicator, a measure of research productivity, and the staff with PhD indicator, (joint with Kyoto University).

3. Osaka University

Ranked as the third top university in Japan is Osaka University, which also currently holds 67^th place in the global ranking. Having originated in 1724, the university is the country’s sixth oldest university and according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018, ranks amid the top 50 universities in the world for dentistry, chemical engineering, physics and astronomy, and natural sciences.

In this year’s Japan university ranking, Osaka University receives excellent scores across most of the indicators, and thanks to its top-notch reputation for research, achieves the second-highest score in the top 10 for both its international research network and academic reputation.

2. Kyoto University

Famed for having educated world-class researchers and 13 Nobel Prize laureates, Kyoto University is one of the world’s leading institutes overall, currently ranking 35^th in the world university rankings.

As the second-best university in Japan this year, the institution’s array of notable alumni is highly reflected through its near-perfect score for employer reputation, as well as its perfect scores – and the highest in the top 10 – for its academic reputation and for the indicator used to measure international research network (both joint with the University of Tokyo).

1. The University of Tokyo

The University of Tokyo currently ranks 23^rd in the world, and was the first imperial university. It was established in 1887 and is globally renowned for its prestigious level of academia, having proudly educated an array of successful and notable alumni, including 15 of Japan’s 62 prime ministers and five astronauts.

As the number-one ranked university in Japan, it achieves impressively high scores across most of the 10 indicators, scoring the highest in the whole ranking for academic reputation, employer reputation, and international research network.

Nagoya is the fourth-largest city in Japan and comes in at joint 95^th this year alongside Vilnius. Of the three Japanese cities to be featured, Nagoya scored the highest for affordability, ranking 26^th in the world for this indicator.

Located in the center of Japan on Honshu island, on the Pacific coast, Nagoya is one of the country’s major ports and economic centers, with a primary focus on the automobile industry (Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi are all based here). Other important industries in Nagoya include aviation, ceramics, retail and technology, and with recent growth in areas like materials engineering, it’s no surprise that more and more international students are choosing to stay and find work.

There are plenty of beautiful and historically significant attractions to explore in your spare time in Nagoya, including the 17^th century Nagoya Castle, the Atsuta Shrine (the second-most venerable shrine in the country), the Tokugawa Garden, the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and the Higashiyama Sky Tower. 1. Explore Japan’s capital city, Tokyo

In addition to famously superb cuisine (and more Michelin stars than any other city), Tokyo offers infinite possibilities for exploration – among the fresh fish markets, the inner-city parks, the famed kabuki theatres and so much more. Whether you’re fascinated by the country’s Buddhist heritage or want to sing your heart out in one of the city’s famous karaoke bars, Tokyo will not disappoint.

2. Visit Kyoto and its beautiful temples

If you’re looking to study in Japan without the chaos of the capital, Kyoto is likely to be high up on your wish-list – it’s got all the traditional temples and gardens you could want, alongside a welcoming and vibrant student community.

3. Soak in a Japanese hot spring

Location: All over Japan

Submerge yourself in a Japanese hot spring and you’ll feel yourself instantly relax – even if there is a slightly sulphuric aroma in the air! An integral part of Japanese life, the springs are enjoyed by young and old, tourists, monkeys and locals alike (although perhaps not all at the same time).

As well as indoor pools, there are also many outdoor springs situated against spectacular mountain backdrops, near waterfalls or close to rivers. But if you want the full experience (and a real treat), consider booking yourself into an onsen ryokan – a traditional inn complete with hot springs.

Bath before and after dinner, even before and after breakfast, and you’ll feel rejuvenated like never before. You’ll just need to leave your modesty at the door – most Japanese people bathe naked.

4. Walk Japan’s ancient pilgrimage trails

Location: Shikoku Island

It’s 1,200 kilometers long and takes weeks to complete, so you may not wish to walk the entire loop of Japan’s 88 temple pilgrimage in one go, but even walking a small part of this trail around Shikoku Island should be high up on your list of things to do in Japan during your studies.

Small inns along the way provide accommodation and food, and if you do opt for the traditional on-foot approach (as opposed to the slightly more convenient tour bus), why not complete the experience by dressing up in traditional attire: a white coat (hakui), purple scarf (wagesa), conical straw hat (sugegasa) and walking stick (kongōtsue)?

5. Catch a sumo wrestling match

Location: All over Japan

There’s more to sumo wrestling than two overweight men in strange underwear attempting to throw each other out of a ring – sumo wrestling is an incredibly ritualistic, strategic and traditional Japanese martial art.

Japan is the only country in the world where sumo wrestling is practiced professionally, so make the most of the opportunity, and head to the ringside to get in on the action. It may help to take a local along with you, who can help explain what’s happening.

Did you know…? In order to bulk up for the ring, sumo wrestlers consume around 10,000 calories per day – that’s about four times more than the average male.

6. Escape to Hokkaido

Whether you’re into skiing, snowboarding, rafting, canoeing, whale watching, mountain climbing, fishing or cycling – Hokkaido is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground. It’s also arguably the world’s leading destination for ice sculptures, and a photographer’s paradise.

The second largest of the islands which constitute Japan, and the 21^st largest island in the world, Hokkaido is towards the north of the country and exhibits four distinctive seasons, each bringing its own unique attractions for the many visitors who flock to the island year-round.

With national parks to trek through, hot pools to soak in, festivals to enjoy, and stunning scenery to gasp at, Hokkaido makes for an enjoyable getaway from the hustle and bustle of the country’s major metropolitan areas. The capital city of Hokkaido is Sapporo, which welcomes around 14 million tourists each year.

7. Try taiko drumming and other traditional activities

Location: All over Japan

You’ll probably hear them before you see them, and the deep rumble of Japanese taiko drums will be hard to forget. Used in warfare to motivate troops, taiko drums are traditionally made from ancient trees, hundreds of years old.

Many of the top universities in Japan have student clubs which will allow you to try your hand at various Japanese activities, including taiko. Other traditional pastimes include painting, calligraphy, origami (paper sculpture) and ikebana (flower arranging). There’s no better way to experience the culture of your host country than to immerse yourself in it – so what are you waiting for?

8. Visit Himeji Castle

Location: Hyōgo Prefecture

It may not quite have fairytale turrets, but one look at Himeji Castle will take your breath away. Taking pride of place on a hilltop in the Hyōgo Prefecture of Japan, Himeji is justifiably recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a national treasure.

Also known as White Heron Castle due to its brilliant white exterior, the castle is about an hour’s drive from Kobe (home to another of Japan’s top universities), and an easy day trip from either Kyoto or Osaka. It’s best visited in spring, when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, providing a stunning natural backdrop for a spectacular architectural feat.

Did you know…? Himeji Castle has a maze of paths leading up to its main keep. These were designed as a defensive element, leading enemies round in spirals and down dead ends.

9. Go to a sakura matsuri (cherry blossom party)

Location: All over Japan

If the unique culture, delicious food, efficient transport systems and the mix of city life and spectacular scenery isn’t enough to entice you to study in Japan, then perhaps the attraction of springtime cherry blossoms will convince you. Setting public parks alight, and framing temples and palaces with natural beauty, Japan’s cherry blossom season is truly a sight to behold.

Each year, Japan’s cherry blossom bloom occurs between the months of March and May, depending on the region. You can even use this handy guide to time your hanami (flower viewing) visits.

10. Explore Osaka by night

Japan’s third largest city, Osaka was heavily bombed during the Second World War, and has since been rebuilt with numerous concrete structures and elevated highways. Experience the bright lights and nightlife of this dynamic city and, if you’re game, step into one of the karaoke bars for a real Japanese experience.

地理位置
